Volunteer Opportunities at ACMC

The Ashtabula County Medical Center Auxiliary is the oldest volunteer organization in Ashtabula County. With over 200 volunteers, the ACMC Auxiliary assists patients and their families in a variety of ways:

• Gift Shop volunteers assist with stocking and selling merchandise.
• Surgical hosts and hostesses provide for the needs of the families of surgical patients.
• Escorts assist patients during admission and discharge.
• Information desk receptionists provide information and deliver mail and flowers to patients.
• Volunteers bring books and magazines to patients.
• Pastoral care assistants work with the hospital chaplain and area clergy.
• Emergency department volunteers support patients and families.
• Event volunteers help raise funds for patient care equipment and educational materials.

Your Gift to the ACMC Foundation Can Make a Difference

Ashtabula County Medical Center (ACMC) is a non-profit community-owned hospital. Over the years, donations from the community have benefited the medical center by financing projects and programs that have no other source of funding. Your gift in any amount can make a difference in the quality of health care provided to the community. A contribution to the ACMC Foundation is an investment in the future of Ashtabula County residents. Your donation will be personally acknowledged and listed in ACMC's Annual Report to the Community.

The Endowment Fund
The ACMC Endowment Fund advances health care in the county and furthers the mission of the Ashtabula County Medical Center in a variety of ways. The Endowment Fund may be used to establish new programs, purchase equipment and make capital improvements. Donations to the endowment fund are generally unrestricted, and are invested and used at the discretion of the Foundation Board of Trustees.

Making Your Gift
Gifts are most often made in the form of cash, check or money order. Donations also can be charged to your Visa or Master Card account.

ACMC's Annual Fund Drive
ACMC's Annual Campaign has been a major source of funding for the Ashtabula County Medical Center since 1987. Donations generated by the ACMC Foundation's annual appeal are used to replace aging equipment, supply much needed services and assist the hospital in providing educational programs and health screenings to our community. Major capital campaigns have included the in-house Hospice unit, The Regional Cancer Center--Northeast Ohio and the emergency department fast track urgent care center. Annual fund dollars have been used to purchase life-saving medical equipment such as an intra-aortic balloon heart pump, fetal monitoring equipment, and to completely renovate the Behavioral Medicine Unit.

Memorial Tribute Gifts
You may elect to honor or memorialize a loved one with your gift. This is the perfect way to celebrate a special birth or pay tribute to a loved one who has passed. These donations not only serve as thoughtful remembrances, they also greatly assist the medical center in carrying out its important work. At your request, the ACMC Foundation will notify individuals honored or families of those memorialized.

Remembering ACMC in Your Will
What better way to show your concern for mankind than through a bequest to an institution dedicated to preserving the health of the community? You don't have to be wealthy to remember Ashtabula County Medical Center in your will. Any gift can make a difference.

Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities or stock can be one of the most advantageous ways to give. If your gift of stock is one you have owned for more than a year, it may be possible to deduct the full fair market value of the stock as a charitable contribution while bypassing all capital gains taxes.

Real Estate
Gifts of appreciated real estate are like gifts of appreciated stock. Assuming you have owned the property for more than one year, you may be able to deduct as a charitable contribution the fair market value of the real estate while avoiding all capital gains taxes.

Life insurance is a unique way to make a charitable gift by making the ACMC Foundation the owner and beneficiary.

Special Events
From time to time, the ACMC Foundation hosts special events to raise money and awareness of ACMC's needs and services. One such event, ACMC's Annual Golf Classic has become the premiere golfing event in the county.

Matching Gifts
Many corporations offer their employees a matching gift program. This is a great way to multiply your gift dollars. Ask if your company participates in a matching gift program, and, if so, be sure to complete the necessary paperwork and include it with your donation to double your gift. Matching gift forms are usually available in your company's human resource department.
